NORSUN ELÄMÄÄ
- LA VIDA DE UNA ELEFANTE

The second part of Katja Lundén’s solo series merges African rhythmic traditions with core elements of flamenco. The work builds on Lundén’s concept of ”elephantness”: even some of us humans have the heart of an elephant. The accompanying music was completed at the Villa Karo artist residence in Africa, where Lundén had the opportunity to work in winter 2010–2011. The music was recorded partly in rhythm sessions featuring, among others, Noël Saïzonou, a top musician from Benin, and Maria Puusaari, a violinist for the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. The narrator is actress Sari Mällinen.
